No time spent getting to and from the counseling office.
Tele-health counseling is mental health services provided via the internet. Services are live, face-to-face sessions held over the internet instead of in the provider's office or other physical location.
55-minute sessions are $125.00; however, your out-of-pocket expense will depend on whether you are self-pay or using insurance.. If you are using insurance to pay, the fee is based on the insurance plan (co-pay and deductible may apply).
Most insurance plans cover tele-health counseling just like it covers in-office services; however, there may be exceptions in which special permissions may be required. When in doubt, check with the insurance carrier.
Confidentiality is protected from my end by the use of a HIPAA compliant portal. I use a headset to reduce the possibility of someone overhearing what you are saying and situate myself so that no one else can see the screen. The bigger concern is the confidentiality at your end: where can you freely talk about personal, family, and work issues without being overheard? Where will you have the optimum physical comfort? I observe that quite a few of my tele-health counseling clients go out to their cars! Not the most comfortable in my book, but whatever works for the client is fine with me.
On the first page of my website is a link to schedule an appointment. Click on the link and follow the instructions, including the choice of locations: tele-health or in-office. If you have any special scheduling needs, please call me for assistance.
There are some down-sides to using tele-health instead of coming to my office for counseling services. The major issue is the technology. The internet service speed and strength can impact the electronic connection. Internet services can be disrupted from time to time and are generally outside the control of either of us.
The HIPAA-compliant video platform is sessions.psychologytoday.com. I will send you an email invitation prior to our scheduled session. The email will contain a link. All you have to do is make sure your camera and speakers/microphone are working and click on the link. If you have any difficulty connecting, call me! If I don't see you checked in at the time of our session, I will call you.
